As an energy, infrastructure and resources specialist, David has a passion for law and looking at problems with a logical and strategic lens, using his extensive knowledge and skills of the market to find positive outcomes for clients. Through his collaborative, perceptive and diligent approach, David strives to provide meaningful counsel to find the best outcome for complex problems.

David has expertise in energy, infrastructure and resources, as well as project development and construction. In particular, clients are able to benefit from David’s extensive expertience in drafting and negotiating EPC and O&M agreements, development services agreements, connection agreements, power purchase agreements and other construction contracts and services contracts.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, David worked at Ashurst in Sydney and Arthur Cox in Ireland.

  • Advising European Energy’s inhouse EPC Contractor on the project financing of the Mokoan solar farm project (56MW) in Victoria. Advice included the drafting and negotiation of the EPC Contract and O&M Contract, key subcontracts, consultancy agreements and ancillary agreements.
  • Advising HSH Nordbank AG on its financing of three separate wind farm projects in Ireland from a construction and energy law perspective.
  • Advising Energy Vault on the Meadown Creek Solar Farm project (250MW) in Victoria. Advice included the review and negotiation of the BESS services contract.
  • Advising Octopus Australia on its successful VRET2 reverse auction and support agreement with the State of Victoria.
  • Advising energySEA as substation EPC Contractor on the Kingaroy Solar Farm project in Queensland. Advice included the review and negotiation of the substation EPC Contract, subcontracts and ancillary agreements.
  • Advising energySEA on the Wollar Solar Farm project in NSW. Advice included the review and negotiation of the harmonic filter supply and installation agreement.
  • Advising GEII as EPC Contractor on its bid and contract close negotiations on the Murra Warra II windfarm project.
  • Advising GEII as EPC Contractor on its bid and contract close negotiations on the Bango windfarm project.
  • Advising Sydney Metro on its $3.7 billion contract with the Operator in respect of Sydney Metro City and Southwest.
  • Advising on three linked construct only contract packages for the Sydney Metro Southwest line.
