George Calman

Lawyer – Litigation and Dispute Resolution

George has a particular drive for solving challenging and complex problems. He is focused on achieving desired and successful outcomes for clients, using his observant and patient approach.

George’s experience includes commercial litigation in a variety of state and federal courts, financial services matters, general contractual disputes, insurance law, and property law.

George also has academic interests in property law, equity and trusts, and is currently studying for a Master of Laws at the University of Sydney in those areas.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, George was a barrister's assistant at Jack Shand Chambers and a paralegal at the Law Society of NSW, and was previously a non-commissioned officer in the Australian Defence Force.

  • Representing an offshore business services provider in a contractual interpretation dispute with an international provider of outsourced employment services.
  • Acting for a property developer in Supreme Court proceedings regarding a prescriptive easement.
  • Acting for a property developer in complex proceedings in the Equity Division of the Supreme Court, regarding estoppel, undue influence and unconscionable conduct.
  • Advising a retail distributor in a licensing dispute with a listed company. 
  • Advising a financier on a complex property and contract law matter, resulting in a favourable settlement for the financier.
