Timothy Zahara

Timothy is a specialist workplace lawyer and has worked for clients across a wide range of industries, ranging from ASX 100 companies to family businesses.

He has extensive experience advising clients in relation to various workplace and employment matters, including employment and post-employment obligations, executive employment arrangements and remuneration, workplace investigations, termination and redundancy implementation, and transfer of employment in the context of corporate transaction. Timothy also has considerable experience advising clients in respect of discrimination, general protection, bullying and unfair dismissal claims, work health and safety obligations, and strategic industrial advice.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Timothy was a member of the workplace law team at KMPG Law and also previously worked for Arnold Bloch Leibler and Clayton Utz. Timothy also worked for Australia’s national workplace relations tribunal, the Fair Work Commission and Australia’s national workplace regulator, the Fair Work Ombudsman.

SELECTED REPRESENTATIONS
  • Acted for a disability services organisation in significant transaction, performing a vendor due diligence and assisting in drafting employment and transaction documentation.
  • Assisted a large Australian employer to undertake a comprehensive review of its compliance with obligations under statute and applicable industrial instruments with respect to superannuation contributions to be made for the benefit of employees.
  • Worked with forensics specialists in providing advice as to the conduct of an investigation into potential employee misconduct in a governmental organisation, and assisted the client in developing a strategy to deal with the outcome of the investigation report.
  • Acted for a large Australian employer in investigating a workplace fatality at a factory, including coordinating responses with the relevant regulator.
  • Assisted a large construction company in developing a new set of standard employment documents and policies, including standard employment agreements for staff at various levels, executive incentive plans and best-practice workplace policies.
