Hamilton Locke acquires The Company Secretary Pty Ltd and announces launch of new company secretarial and corporate compliance business, Emerson Corporate Legal Operations. Emerson Corporate Legal Operations is positioned to become a leading brand in providing outsourced company secretarial, legal and compliance services to the Australian market.
Hamilton Locke has announced the acquisition of The Company Secretary Pty Ltd, a provider of outsourced company secretarial services. The acquisition complements the launch of Hamilton Locke’s new allied business that provides company secretarial, outsourced general counsel and compliance services, Emerson Corporate Legal Operations.
Former managing director of The Company Secretary, Marika White, will be joining Emerson as Executive Director. Marika previously worked with Boardworx Australia and brings with her over 15 years’ experience working with both large and small organisations, within Australia and overseas.
“We saw a gap in the market for a solid, reliable company secretarial services business allied with a law firm with a strong transactional practice”, says Hamilton Locke’s managing partner, Nick Humphrey.
“Company secretarial services are often provided by commercial law firms at rates that are more appropriate for high end transactional work, or internally by a general counsel or chief financial officer, who would be better focussed on more strategic executive duties. Otherwise they’re provided by a specialist company secretarial service which does not have a legal background.”
“We wanted to offer a premium, reliable service at a competitive price”.
Emerson is a comprehensive solution for company secretarial, governance and compliance services, backed by a team of experienced lawyers at Hamilton Locke, who can provide legal advice as and when it’s needed. Emerson offers personalised bespoke services, with an efficient, technologically advanced infrastructure allowing it to create scale and greater efficiencies than other firms currently offering the same services.
